I had a conversation this week with a woman who wanted us to help her craft a LinkedIn direct messaging strategy to book sales consultations.

She told me she deletes every single LinkedIn message she gets from people who invite her into a sales consultation.

Can you see how this might be a problem?

She wants to GET something that she won’t GIVE.

Don’t worry, I’m not suggesting you need to say “yes” to every sales meeting. But observe how a lack of openness to the sales processes generally may be shutting you down.

2. Stop overcomplicating.

A brilliant professional who left her 6-figure salary to start her business asked us for our assessment on why she hadn’t yet closed any sales.

She wanted a deep analysis of her marketing materials.

I asked her how many offers she had made in the last 3 months. The answer: 3.

It’s easy to overcomplicate the sales process. We often overcomplicate things that are uncomfortable…so that we don’t have to actually do them.

If you want more sales, you need to make more offers.

In fact, a powerful practice to help you sell more TODAY is to make an offer each and every day. The only two skills you need to get started is the ability to have a conversation or write an email.

3. Mind your own business in order to grow your company.

You might feel uncomfortable selling because you’re afraid people will get “mad” or stop liking you because you asked for a sale.

Let me repeat this: you are afraid people will dislike you because you asked for a sale.

And you know what? You are 100% right! There are people in this world who will dislike you for asking for a sale.

There are also people who hate puppies.

What those people think is none of your business. Your business is your business.
