You want to be the person who is listened to when you express an opinion around the boardroom table. You want to not just share your message, but have your message taken seriously and acted upon so that your best contributions don’t wither inside you, but actually are translated into action. If this is you, you must learn how to clearly articulate your point of view and communicate persuasively. Persuasive communication is one of the fundamental skills of elevating your personal profile and building a strong personal brand. So how do you do it?
One of the core strategies you can employ today to help you be a more effective communicator (and in so doing really raise your public profile) is to stop talking and topics, but begin expressing your bold opinion and adopting a point of view. Stop talking in generalized topics that give only a fuzzy sense of what you actually think and what you’re actually here to accomplish. Start challenging yourself to speak in opinion and bold point of view. When you are able to articulate yourself in this manner, you have a greater impact, you strike clear lines about where you stand and you can really generate the kind of constructive conversation that drives organizations forward.
