Scale faster by removing growth blocks

Eleanor Beaton

In about 30 minutes I am going to leave the coziness of my living room to take my eldest son to football practice.

He is 15 and 6’3. He has opinions of his own and grows more interesting and independent each day.

I don’t have to “make” him grow. Growth is his natural state. I just provide him with some practical resources — food, water, clothes, — guidance, safety and…the biggest growth supporter of all, LOVE.

Oh, and I also need to provide NEW SHOES every 6 months so his shoes don’t crowd his feet.

In other words, all I need to do is tend (or increasingly, empower HIM to tend) to his basic needs, provide love and safety, and ensure his toes aren’t getting cramped. Nature will take care of the rest. Is it EASY to do this? No. But is it simple? Yes.

This approach to growing your business can relieve much weeping and gnashing of teeth…especially the part about the shoes.

I see the process of “scaling” less as something you need to force or “action.” Rather, it’s about a careful tending –first and foremost — to the things that PREVENT the natural growth from happening.

Scaling is about removing the things that block the natural process of growth.

(Even writing that makes me feel good and whole and energy filled.)

Once you remove the things that BLOCK growth, you’ll find there is a lot less to “action.” You discover that there are only ever a few things that really move the needle on your to do list.

And you start to develop the trust to apply your energy and resources to those things and release everything else either through total abandonment, automation, or delegation.

Scaling is simple. Recognizing and releasing the stuff that blocks the natural growth of your company is how you do it. (If you want our help, this is what to do.)
